TIME
by Dave Andrews
Time’s up, it’s time to give
Time is right, less time to live
Re-tie, retire, try
To wire time across time lines
Shaking hands, shaking sweat
From body trembling, set
Down the shaking hand on knee
And shake from thoughts, shift … time
time has come, my time has come
to put it away, your time
Giving up, giving hugs
Giving life, give me some
Thing to give to one who seeks
The gift of giving more than my time
time has come, my time has come
to put it away, your time
Exchanging hands, exchange glances
One for another on the street
Exchange of thoughts, ideas, light
For one more exchange of night

ZaZaZa
by Dave Andrews, Mark Andrews, Christopher Shotola-Hardt
running round – underwear
34 degrees – not a care
where did he go – must be out
down by the river – cartoon wild
knock at the door – no one home
Jerry Springer scream – wasted dreams
where did he go – must be in his room
angry five year-old – hey don’t eat that!
unattended / unintended
didn’t notice – all pumped up
leaving him behind – locked up
where did he go – running wild
34 degrees – not a care

SLICKER
by Susanne Shotola-Hardt
I thought it was a girl at the gas station
till he spoke and his voice came out deep
he talked to me like he was standing in my living room
“is that plastic?” he asked me
people say it’s cool
“where’d you get that thing anyways?”
clerk at K-Mart’s been out lookin’ for hers
and it’s good for urban camoflage
water slides down just like oil
slick it up with Windex
when it’s raining you can’t see me cross the street in my
shiny plastic coat
Gideon said “that thing is loud”
it crinkles and he can’t hear what he’s saying
Christopher said it scared the hell out of him
today in the car
I thought it was a girl at the gas station
till he spoke and his voice came out deep
clear skin, clear eyes
talked to me like we were standing in my living room
“is that plastic?” he asked me

REALITY-V
by Robert Shotola
Have you seen Reality-V?
Do you watch Reality-V?
It’s as real as the real world
It’s as real as Disneyland
It’s as real as McDonald’s
It’s as real as Bud Light
Have you seen Reality-V?
Do you watch Reality-V?
It’s as real as your cell phone
It’s as real as the bottom line
It’s as real as the internet
It’s as real as the president
Have you seen Reality-V?
Do you watch Reality-V?
Don’t you wanna have fun?
Don’t you wanna find real true love?
Don’t you wanna be a big suck-cess?
Don’t you wanna be a millionaire?
Don’t you wanna survive?
Have you seen Reality-V?
Do you watch Reality-V?
It’s as real as reality
Yes it’s real

I’LL BE WAITING
by Christopher Shotola-Hardt
Trouble’s brewing, trouble’s here
They will take me soon, I fear
When you look I may be gone
Know I love you and be strong
I will break free, I’ll escape
I will meet you at that place
Keep your head up, keep your pride
You and our children must survive
I’ll be waiting – I’ll be there
They will come to look for me
You won’t tell them anything
Keep your head down, hide your pride
To all their questions tell them lies
Leave the farm and close the house
Before the ice comes you must be out
Take our children cautiously
Tell no one you’re meeting me
I’ll be waiting – I’ll be there

BREATHE (for Julian)
by Dave Andrews & Christopher Shotola-Hardt
Heart beats, heart beating, heart
Bones crack, bones small, bones
Sense smell, sense touch, sense
Being close, being blood, being
Skin soft, skin sweet, skin
Head small, head dear, head
Breathe air, breathe deep, breathe
Heart beats, heart being, heart
Born sweet, born today
Skin sweet, skin soft, skin
Heart beats, heart beating, heart
Breathe air, breathe deep, breathe

T.V. LOSER
by Mark Andrews
I’m sitting on my own
tired as hell
and I’m wondering
when you’re coming home
I’m sitting on my own
exhausted as hell and I’m wondering
if you’re coming home
It’s a beautiful day and the sun is out
but my shades are drawn
Sound of the world is drowned out
’cause my T.V.’s on
If you come back I promise
not to ignore you anymore
But for now I’m on my own, tired as hell
with the beer bottles strewn across the floor
(chorus)
Although I’m strung out
I know I’ll work it out
I know what I’ve done, what have I done
Watched my priority walk out the door
And now I’m on my own, with remote control
but the game doesn’t mean anything anymore
(chorus)
Although I’m strung out
I know I’ll work it out
And that’s the price I pay for the things I didn’t say
I didn’t listen over the T.V.
I didn’t believe you, you said you were leaving
And that’s the price I pay for the things I forgot to say

OEDIPUS TAKES HIS OWN EYES
by Christopher Shotola-Hardt
I dream of her in the moonlight
pure, fair, and sweet,
like a rose.
Her bosom rests
‘neathe my cheek
my love lies bare.
No purer sight have I seen,
heaven-sent deity is she!
I want to see her
one last time
before I go and…knife my eyes!
One more time, look at mine
One more time, look around
One more time, look at my dog
One more time
Take the knife – one more time
To my eyes – one more time
Look at me – one more time
No more time!
Blade, cut my eyes!
Red tears fall down my face.
